Monthly/ Weekly music comparison!
You can immidiatly tell the difference between the monthly magazine (MOJO) and the weekly magazine (NME). Mojo has many more articles and a more compact front page, while NME has a wider page and main picture with a few mentions of articles, all to the left of the page. The advertisements in Mojo are for more detailed and expensive things, such as cars, whereas NME has smaller advertisements for phones and albums. I think this is because the weekly magazine can use its sales to boost profit rather than charging loads for big advertisements which appear weekly, the monthly magazine on the other hand, has to have big advertisements to make up for the loss of not having consitant weekly magazine sales. It will most likely sell more in the first week than the rest of the time before the next issue.

Here is a quick explanation and analysis of 2 university magazine covers. these magazines are nothing in quality compared with the Healthy magazine. I think it is because these are freely available and are sent home to people who have already finished university. There isn't much analysis because here isn't much to analyse! They dont follow the regular page layoutof a magazine cover and are both unclear to what the magzine means and what it is really useful for.

I analysed the front cover of a health magazine to help me when i am making my own magazine. The analysis shows how every part of the front page has been put in a specific place for a specific reason. This will help me when i am trying to make my magazine cover, so i know what part of the magazine will appeal to the audience that i want!

Our Nature Magazine Cover!
After learning the basics of using PhotoShop CS4, we were assigned a task to create the cover of a nature magazine to prove that we could use PhotoShop effectively. I got an image of some mountains with coloured skies and clouds. I used the magnet trimming tool to go along the top of the mountains and down the side of them to give the effect of the sky running all the way up the page. I then input the magazine title at the top in a suitable font, then used the colour picking tool to choose a darkish green colour of the grass and moss to link the image with the title. I moved the word below the other one and linked the 2 M's so it became some sort of logo that could be used. Then by holding the shift key and clicking on the 2 words representations in the bottom right hand corner i can move the 2 words around simultaneously so the 2 M's dont become undone and have to re-organise them together. The blank space could be used to create advertisements for what will be read in the magazine, or just any aditional information the reader needs or could find useful!

Photoshop Tutorial (Part 2)
As well as the basics that we were taught on photo shop, we were taught how to layer our images which could help add or remove certain parts of an image or text that we didnt want or need. This will help make my magazine covers look more proffesional and creative.
Photoshop Tutorial
we got taught the basic instructions and methods in which we can edit and alter texts and photos. This will help me in future media productions, like the nature and music magazines we are currently working on!
